Arizona Corporate Tax Credit Scholarships

Green v. Garriot

On September 19, 2006, school choice opponents in Arizona filed the third lawsuit against scholarship tax credits in the state.  The ACLU of Arizona and the Arizona School Boards Association seek to block the recent expansion of Arizona’s successful tax credit program to encourage corporate donations to scholarship funds that help poor families trapped in failing public schools attend the private school of their choice.  IJ successfully defended a nearly identical program in a landmark victory before the Arizona Supreme Court and secured a federal district court ruling also upholding that program.  In this case, IJ once again represents the Arizona School Choice Trust, a scholarship tuition organization, and parents to ensure that Arizona schoolchildren enjoy equal educational opportunity.
